Cake Contest Rules & Information
A highlight of the Blue and Gold banquet is the cake decorating contest. The creativity and skill of Pack families has been demonstrated
over many years of celebrations. We will accept family entries and the traditional father/son cake creations.
These are the rules for the contest:
- The cake must be made/decorated by the Scout and his immediate family.
- All cakes must be on a disposable plate.
- All components and decorations must be edible.
- The cake should be submitted by 4:30 p.m., on Febrary 27, 2010.
An index card must be submitted along with the entry providing:
- The Scout's name and Den
- The title of the cake
- A list of ingredients in and on the cake. If a packaged mix is used, provide the name of the product (e.g., "Betty Crocker Devil's Food cake mix") rather than all ingredients in the product.
Cakes will be judged in the following categories:
- Tallest - as determined at the time of entry by tape measure
- Scout's Choice - as determined by the majority of voting scouts
- Best Tiger Theme - as determined by a select panel of judges
- Best "Happy Birthday BSA" theme - as determined by a select panel of judges
- Yummiest looking - as determined by a select panel of judges
- Most Colorful - as determined by a select panel of judges
- Judges' Choice - as determined by a select panel of judges
Winning cakes will be auctioned during the banquet; all others will be served as dessert.
WANTED...WANTED...WANTED
As we prepare for the upcoming Blue and Gold Banquet, we are in need of items to sell to the scouts at the Cubby Bucks table and auction. We would like
donations of new and gently used toys, books, videos, software, and games for cub scout aged boys and their siblings. So clean out your family room,
attic, or toy box! The boys really enjoy shopping with their Cubby Bucks!
Items are also being accepted for the Silent Auction. Store-bought products, handmade items, and services are all good items to donate. All of the
proceeds from the Silent Auction go to help run the Pack. Please call or e-mail Committee Chair Beth May (301-802-0463, committee@pack1191.org) if you have any questions.
